The Empress Hotel is known world wide for it's Afternoon Tea.  We went their on Christmas day for the tea and were serenaded by carolers.

Nearby is the British Columbia Parliament Building.  It gets a nice set of lights for the Christmas Season.

Near Victoria are the Butchart Gardens.  This sunken garden was an abandoned limestone quarry, but 100 years ago
Mrs. Butchart added a whole lot of top soil and started the world famous gardens.

Right behind the sunken gardens is this sunken pond with five sunken fountains.

Butchart decorates for Christmas in a big way.  They decorate the trees...

See?  They decorate the trees...

They decorate the hillsides, with sequenced lights making it look like a waterfall...

And they make displays for all the gifts of the Twelve Days of Christmas.  This is one of Eleven Pipers Piping, and...

...and this is the Partridge in his Pear Tree.  Next year (2004) is the Butchart Garden's 100 Anniversary, and they
will complete their Twelve Days of Christmas by adding the Twelve Drummers Drumming.
