Our first stop in Jordan was Wadi Rum, the land of Lawrence of Arabia (both in reality and for the making of the film).  It's a beautiful landscape, as you can see from these pictures.


This "house" is associated (perhaps only by legend) with Lawrence.  It certainly looks like the kind of place he may have had to spend a night or two...

After Wadi Rum, we went to Petra (pictures here), and decided at precisely the last minute to make a wild drive to Jerash on our way back to our hotel in Tel Aviv, even though it's in precisely the wrong direction.  So, we got up amazingly early and made the drive and thoroughly enjoyed it.  Jerash is a Roman city which is quite well preserved in Northern Jordan.  Above is the main street. 

This is called the Nymphaeum, a bath in ancient Jerash.
